Welcome to Junior Game Creators
Virtual Homeschooling Workshops
We have created some workshops for those of you who are homeschooling. Whether you are new to homeschooling or an established pro at it, we know that having some structure and social learning events especially with other kids is great for everybody.
We believe that the best kind of learning is when kids are also having a fun time doing it. These workshops are about learning how to code whilst making your own video games. The workshops also serve as a gateway in establishing a foundation for them to build their digital skills for the future, all from the comfort of their home.
We begin using a program called Scratch which is a great visual way to learn how to code rather than getting bogged down in text and language only. Pupils watch the host create the game live and then follow a worksheet to make the same game. We make a different game each week and pupils learn what the different blocks do and how to tweak and change aspects of each game. That way they are learning by doing.
We often have feedback from other parents about how their kids spend a long time after the workshops working on continuing to work on their games as they get inspired and enjoy seeing the fruits of their labour.
Having fun while making games quickly builds the skill and confidence of our pupils to a level that they can then create their own projects. And remember, we are always here to help you get unstuck.
