Do you know a budding Junior Game Creator? Try our FREE Introduction to Video Game Making Online Workshop
RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 7+
Creative coding is so much fun, especially when children get a real game as an outcome. We let the game be the teacher. We find a minimum age of 7 is ideal for the keyboard and mouse skills to thrive in our sessions. Our sessions can create a hobby that may become a career.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
Our teaching delivery of ‘Play to Learn’ ensures that children remain engaged and advance their learning through hands on practice. Learners of any skill level are welcome to join, and we can adapt to their skill levels and interests.
PROGRESS THROUGH THE RANKS
Designing and coding a video game can get complex relatively quickly. To eliminate the risk of frustration we have levels for learners to progress through. Each level will prepare the learner for new challenges. We always start at the Novice level with this FREE session but then will advise on progress and best tools for our budding game makers to use.
GAME CREATING GURUS
Each workshop is hosted by one of our Game Creating Gurus. The host will be on hand to assist with any difficulties and will demonstrate live how to create the session’s game. Our budding game creators then create their own versions to keep and show their friends
FREE INTRODUCTORY SESSIONS
Our FREE introductory sessions are a great way to have a sneak peek into how our workshops operate. We want families to be able to give it a try before committing to regular sessions. There is a course fee for our workshops should you wish to continue the learning journey.
HOW LONG DOES EACH WORKSHOP LAST?
Each workshop lasts one hour and requires a few minutes preparation to join the session and get going. Before each workshop we will send joining instructions and workshop requirements.
FUN & EDUCATIONAL
Video game design brings together a whole host of different skillsets and sees Maths and Computer science coexist with Art, Music and Animation. Pulling everything together improves logical thinking, planning and problem solving.
HOW IT WORKS
To enable users to grasp the complexity of programming we use a game engine called Scratch
Workshops are hosted using Zoom in collaboration with our specially designed worksheets.
